How to add a link in bio on Instagram

Short answer: open your profile, tap Edit profile, then Links, and paste a URL there. Instagram shows that field as one line of clickable text under your bio, so most creators point it at a page listing several destinations instead of retyping a new address every time something changes.

1. Where the bio link field lives

On the Instagram app, tap your profile picture in the bottom right corner, then tap Edit profile near the top. Inside that screen you will find a row labeled Links (Instagram called this field Website for a long time, and some accounts still see that label). Tap it, tap Add external link, paste the full address including https, then tap Done and Save. On instagram.com the same field sits inside Edit profile in the left sidebar. Either way, the change appears on your public profile within a minute or two, with no app update required.

2. Why the field feels tight

Instagram shows one line of clickable text directly under your bio copy. You can attach a short list of extra addresses behind that same Links screen, and Instagram displays them as a small stacked icon next to your bio rather than as separate readable lines. Most visitors tap the one line they can see and never open that list. The real constraint is not that Instagram forbids a second address outright. It is that only one destination gets a clear, readable, one-tap path off your profile.

3. Point that one field at a page, not a single link

A link-in-bio page solves the display problem rather than the field limit. Build a Fullink page (the free plan covers five links at no cost), add the destinations that matter today, a shop, your newest post, a booking form, a newsletter signup, then copy that page's address into Instagram's Links field. The one visible line in your bio now opens a full page instead of a single address, and everyone who lands there sees every option at once instead of hunting through a hidden list. If Instagram is your main channel, see how a page like this fits for Instagram influencers.

4. Update the page, not the profile

Once the Fullink address is saved in Instagram's Links field, you rarely need to open that screen again. Add a link when you release something new, remove one when it stops being relevant, drag to reorder, or relabel a link so it reads like an instruction instead of a raw address. All of that happens on the Fullink dashboard and publishes right away. Instagram's copy of the address stays exactly the same, which is the entire point of setting it up this way: one profile edit, then every future change happens somewhere built for it. If you are weighing this approach against other tools, see how Fullink compares to Linktree.

5. Before you consider it done

  • The link uses https and opens correctly on both iOS and Android
  • Your Fullink page name and photo match your Instagram profile
  • The destination you most want people to click sits at the top of the list
  • You have tested the link from a second phone, not just your own

Fullink Free covers this setup with five links and no cost. If you later want unlimited links, Stripe-hosted payment links, supporter tools, custom themes or a QR code for print, PRO is $9 a month. Full details are on the pricing page.

Set the Instagram field once, then keep editing the page.
